SAM, Author, Artist & Narrative Device
Story Grid offers an interesting mental model for thinking about the Narrative Device of your story. It includes three pillars.
A concept called SAM, which stands for Single Audience Member. This is someone out there in the real world who will identify with your protagonist and be helped by the story.
The Author. This is a character within or with knowledge of your story world who tells the story to your SAM.
An Artist. This is you. The one who writes the story, but is not in the story.
In a recent meeting, Dr. Bob reviewed these concepts for us. Listen in below.
